Ragnarok Zero: Global has no permanent free tier: playing requires active Game Pass time. Start with the free trial, buy the shortest plan until you are sure you will stay, and treat the Kafra Point shop as optional rather than required.
How the Game Pass works
Gravity Game Unite runs the service on a subscription model. The company presents it as a way to reduce the pay-to-win pressure common in free-to-play MMORPGs. Game Pass time is attached to your GNJOY account and unlocks play on the single PC service for Southeast Asia, Europe and Oceania.
Prices vary by region and plan length and can change during promotions, so check the official Game Pass page instead of relying on figures copied from other sites. During the beta, Gravity also promoted discounted six- and twelve-month plans.
Getting free time first
- Three-day trial: Gravity's official channel promoted a free three-day trial for new players around launch.
- RO Lite ARROW: the official website advertises a free day of Game Pass through the RO Lite ARROW companion game.
- Events: launch and collaboration events can add rewards, but they are time-limited and announced on the official site.
Use this time to reach a first job and test a party. It is enough to know whether the pace suits you.
Choosing a plan length
Buy one month first. Longer plans usually cost less per month, but they only save money if you are still playing. Move to a longer plan once you have a guild, a character you enjoy and a clear goal on the roadmap, such as the next level cap or a new region.
What the Kafra Point shop sells
Kafra Points are the premium currency. Alongside cosmetic costumes, launch reviews listed items that touch progression:
- Enriched refining materials that raise refinement success.
- Protection items that prevent equipment from breaking at higher refine levels.
- Experience and drop-rate boosts.
- Stat consumables and starter equipment.
None of these is required to play, but they shorten the most expensive steps of gearing. The official website also publishes probability information for chance-based items.
How to spend sensibly
- Decide before paying whether the subscription alone is enough for you.
- Avoid refining with paid protection on gear you will replace at the next job change.
- Save boosts for party sessions or events, when they return the most experience.
- Prefer cosmetics or long-term convenience over one-time shortcuts.
The subscription is the entry ticket; everything else is optional. If paying for both feels wrong, the trial gives you a free way to find out before committing.
