Ragnarok Zero: Global beginner guide — your first week in Midgard
Use the trial before paying, follow the main quests to your first job, level in parties on safe maps, and avoid spending on refinement before your gear plan is settled.

The fastest safe start is simple: activate the free trial, create a Novice, follow the main quests and mission board to your first job, pick a job you would enjoy playing for months, and level with a party on maps where you do not die.
Try the game before buying a longer Game Pass
Ragnarok Zero: Global needs active Game Pass time. Gravity has promoted a free three-day trial, and a free day through its RO Lite ARROW companion game. Use that time to reach your first job and test the class you are considering. Buy a longer plan only once you know the pace and the community suit you.
Every character starts as a Novice
Novices learn the basics before choosing a job. Follow the main quest line and the mission board instead of wandering: they give steady experience, explain systems and point you to the right towns. The official Game Guide on the website covers controls, trading, cards, elements and refinement if a term is unfamiliar.
Choose your first job for the long run
The six first jobs are Swordsman, Acolyte, Archer, Merchant, Thief and Magician. Each leads to specific second jobs, so think one step ahead. Want to tank? Swordsman. Want every party to invite you? Acolyte. Want to farm safely alone? Archer or Magician. Read the class choice guide before you commit.
Level where you survive, not where the numbers look best
Specialist launch guides suggest a sensible path: main quests and the mission board to around level 20, the Prontera Culvert or Sograt Desert into the 30s, Labyrinth Forest or poison-spore fields into the 40s, and Orc Dungeon or Geffen fields near 50. The rule matters more than the list: the best map is the one where you keep killing without constant deaths and potion costs.
Party up as early as possible
Party experience sharing is one of the strongest accelerators in the game. A simple tank, healer and damage party clears faster and safer than three solo players. Guilds also gain value from the revamped guild experience system and monthly MVP Raids.
Use auto-hunting with care
Auto-hunting is an official feature. It is useful for repetitive farming, but set clear rules for what to pick up, which potions to use and whether to accept party invites. Watch the first minutes on a new map so the character does not wander into monsters it cannot handle.
Do not rush refinement
Refining equipment can fail, and at higher levels failure can destroy the item. Some shop and event items raise success or prevent breakage. Before refining, make sure the item is one you will keep through your next job change.
First-week checklist
- Use the trial before paying for a longer plan.
- Follow the main quests and mission board.
- Choose a first job with its second job in mind.
- Level on maps where you survive comfortably.
- Join a party and a guild early.
- Configure auto-hunting before leaving it alone.
- Delay risky refinement until your gear is settled.
