Martial artists preparing for the final Hidden Mountain chapter in Where Winds Meet

Version 2.2, Perilous Eminence, went live on September 16, 2026. It closes the Hidden Mountain main story, adds two World Bosses and a repeatable campaign, and schedules a new extraction-style PvP mode for September 23. Most of the seasonal events run until October 12 or October 15.

The update used a live maintenance window from 05:00 to 10:00 (UTC+8). Players could keep playing on the old build, but anyone who had not relogged by 11:00 was disconnected and had to take the update to continue. After updating, you cannot group with players who are still on the previous build.

The story finale: Bringer of Embers

The new main chapter continues directly from Hidden Mountain Main Chapter IV, Gold Crow Fall, which you must finish first. It adds two chapters, A Bitter Winter and Sea of Sunfire. Completion rewards include the Monocled Bird accessory, the Jisheng Aircraft decoration, Lingering Melody and Echo Jade.

If you stopped playing during Version 2.0, the practical order is: finish the earlier Hidden Mountain chapters, unlock the region's travel points on the way, then start Bringer of Embers. The new World Bosses only require the region to be unlocked, so you can fight them before the story is done.

Two new World Bosses

Both bosses are tracked from the Journal, and both give a first-defeat reward of Medicinal Tales ×3, Inner Way Note: Custom Chest ×5 and Echo Jade ×20.

  • Golden Colossus Taicu is a giant bronze construct built on the legend of the Twelve Golden Colossi forged under the First Emperor of Qin.
  • Goshawk is a fire-wielding intruder who scaled Hidden Mountain's western cliffs. His first defeat also awards the Flame Deity Mask face ornament.

Each boss also has Sword Forge Challenges under Trial. These are harder versions with cosmetic prizes: the Shackled Decapitation avatar and Millennium Stroke badge for Taicu, and the Wildfire avatar and Molten Bloom badge for Goshawk. Treat the first clear as a resource reward and the Sword Forge version as a mastery goal once your Path is stable.

The Inner Way Note: Custom Chest reward is the most useful part for most players. It lets you pick the notes you need, so claim both first clears before spending other Inner Way resources.

Skyward City Ruins campaign

Skyward City Ruins is a repeatable Hidden Mountain campaign set in the collapsed city that Mohist Hill once built to reach the sky. Clearing it repeatedly gives a chance at the Steadfast Veil face ornament. The same ornament is also sold in the Season Shop, so you do not have to rely on drop luck.

Transdust Ruins extraction PvP starts September 23

Transdust Ruins is the biggest system change in 2.2. It is an extraction mode inside Wandering Paths → Arena, opening on September 23, 2026 at 06:00 according to the official notice. You need to be level 20 and have finished the Exploration Quest Sands of Perils.

How it works:

  • You choose your loadout from the Warehouse or Shop before entering, and you fight with what you bring.
  • You search the map for items of different value and may meet other players. Defeating them lets you take their dropped items.
  • If you are defeated, you lose everything you carry except what is in your Safety Case.
  • Matches are timed. You keep your loot only if you reach an Extraction Point before the timer ends.
  • Sandstorm Zones appear at random during a match and must be left quickly.

There are four match types: Solo and Trio against real players, and AI Solo and AI Trio against AI-controlled wanderers. Start with AI Solo. It teaches the map, extraction points and sandstorm timing without risking a fight against a prepared player.

Extracted items can be sold for Golden Treasure Tokens, which buy higher-tier gear for the mode or cosmetics such as the Wavecrest Fish accessory. Finishing matches also gives Floral Weave, a second currency that buys Lingering Melody, Resonating Melody and appearance items. Rare Season Collectibles can be appraised for decorations and poses and shown in your Homestead. Rank Points unlock the Devoted Heart title at Mythic IV.

The main risk is losing a strong loadout. Until you know the extraction routes, bring gear you can afford to lose and keep your most valuable find in the Safety Case.

Wildtrail Journal: Ruffled Up

A new Ruffled Up mode in the Wildtrail Journal companion screen lets you fight with your Goose companion against flocks of rival birds. Defeating the Goose Overlord's sidekicks upgrades your goose's moves and abilities before a final fight with the Goose Overlord. It is a light side mode rather than a progression requirement.

Time-limited events

Event Runs until What to do
Trekking for Treasures October 15, 04:59:59 Finish the Exploration Quest Treasure Lore, then follow Treasure Maps in the Treasure Compendium. Turn in treasure sets to Elder Stork for the Top Seeker pose and Treasure Locator inscription. You can also bury your own treasure and publish a map for other players.
Goose Greeting: Daily Login October 12, 04:59:59 Log in on the cumulative milestones that start each Saturday for Energy, Inner Way and Legendary Gear rewards.
Goose Greeting: Resource Storage October 12, 04:59:59 From Monday to Friday, extra Energy and Stamina are converted into Serenity Pills and Exuberance Pills. Claim them before they are cleared on Sunday; the pills expire on October 15 at 05:00.
Goose Greeting: Goose Sweep October 12, 04:59:59 Event quests give Sweep Talismans that instantly clear battles for Energy, up to 60 per week. They expire on October 15 at 05:00.

Resource Storage is the event most worth remembering. It turns Energy you would otherwise waste on busy weekdays into stored pills, but only if you claim them before Sunday.

Cosmetics and chance-based purchases

The Lucky Turtle Match event runs until October 12. You spend Echo Beads on Lotus Pouches, each of which gives one Lucky Turtle or another random reward on a 3×3 board. Matches, lines and full clears give Lotus Cheer points for the event shop and refund some pouches. Purchases are capped per player, and the event shop closes on October 15 at 04:59:59. Unused pouches are converted to Lingering Melody at 16:1 when the event ends, and any remainder becomes Echo Jade.

This is a randomized paid appearance event, so decide on a spending limit before you start. The update also adds the Bane of Life hairstyle and accessory set and the Chilled Current Battle Pass set, which is available until October 15.

Patch notes: guild changes and a Nameless Sword correction

  • Guild Roster: guild management can pin members to the top, and everyone else is sorted by last week's activity.
  • Guild War: personal and guild season statistics now show league and matchmaking data, starting with the new season.
  • Guild Hero's Realm: reward counts are now recorded for both bosses when you claim rewards.
  • Recognition: players who perform well in guild events get honorary titles shown on the roster and in guild chat.
  • Guild Base blacklist: you can block individual players or entire guilds from visiting.
  • Reflection Temple: the Ghost Month stage entrance is closed until the Jiangnan update arrives. Stage progress is kept.
  • Nameless Sword: the Sword Energy text was corrected. Each stack increases Damage Boost against non-player units by 10%, and you do not need to be in the Exhausted state. Only the description changed; the skill already worked this way.

What to do first

  • Story players: finish Gold Crow Fall if needed, then play Bringer of Embers.
  • Build-focused players: clear Golden Colossus Taicu and Goshawk once each for the Inner Way chests before investing elsewhere.
  • PvP players: reach level 20, finish Sands of Perils before September 23, and learn Transdust Ruins in AI Solo with gear you can afford to lose.
  • Everyone: claim Resource Storage pills every week and finish the Treasure Lore quest early enough to complete Trekking for Treasures before October 15.
